Thanks Author's Response: Hi OnlyAtNight, That is about the only time I write...at night...late at night...on the weekends...no one stirring to interrupt the thought processes (also more prone to make errors). Next chapter preview: Severus has a talk with Dumbledore, but he is not particularly happy about what is happening to him. Unbeknowst to one another, Hermione and Severus seek solitude in the library. He gets a little too interested in what Hermione is doing and tries to keep his presence hidden, but fails miserably and startles Hermione, who thought she was alone. joannie | |||

| I REALLY like this story and plan to stick with it!. Hope you finish it. Author's Response: Hi Snape_dreamer, I am VERY pleased to hear you like the story. After I outlined my ideas I became concerned that no one seemed to have done a "previous life" of Severus (at least not in the stories I had read). And, that maybe I had gone down the wrong road by giving him one and pairing him with Lily. When possible I like to include a little humour, subtle or otherwise. Severus is such a fascinating character - I would like to know how he came to be who he is - maybe JK will tell us in Book 7. I regret it is taking so long. My first beta reader was unable to continue and I wanted to wait for her, but that didn't seem feasible. I was very fortunate that she suggested a site for me find another, and lucky me - another equally talented beta reader has rescued me (my punctuation leaves much to be desired at times.) and keeps me on track. All that on top of the fact that I am a perfectionist and it tends to grate on my nerves when I miss stupid errors, so I try to find as many as possible before I send it to my beta. Yes, I plan to finish it - the final chapter is written. I am proofing chapter 7 one final time before I send it for its first read. Thank you very much for sticking with me. | Hrm, very interesting. A very nice look at Severus' past with Lily. Do Severus and Hermione know that they're being at least a little bit manipulated? I can imagine them both being a bit tetchy about it if they find out. Author's Response: Severus will suspect fate has stepped in before Hermione does. A warning his mother was once gave him will flash through his mind, "be careful what you wish for, you might get it". [Chapter 1] Maybe Severus' has a spirit guide, who was listening, and felt invited to take an active part...hmmm. Severus' desire to learn what was written on the parchment, that he scanned in class will be his downfall. And will give Hermione's cunning side an opportunity to shine through. Hermione has been doing abundant research in the library on the phases of the moon. Neither, Severus nor Hermione, are going to be happy about the situation in which they find themselves. There was only a glimpse at the end of the classroom scene of the throughts that raced through their minds. Dumbledore summed it up rather well, when he said, '...she is still too young...And she is still his student...I will have to find a proper way to remedy...' joannie | |||

The conversation at the end of chapter three, which continues into chapter four is obviously with Albus and an unknown 'feminine entity', who has acquired powers even beyond those of Albus'. | |||

| I began this story expecting a typical 'Detention with Snape, turned into love." I am pleasantly surprised by what I have found. This is an intringuing beginning, and I find myself quite anxious to see where it goes. I very much like the blending of the student Snape and the adult Snape. I also think you did a great job with the mesmerizing scene of Snape and Hermione communicating non-verbally and coming together in a hazy kind of sequence. Very effective. Please don't let concerns for a particular rating guide your writing. Don't put artificial constraints on the story. Just write it as you see it. It's working very well. I look forward to reading more. ~~~Ellcey Author's Response: Thank you very much for your kind words and encouragement. For my story I felt student Snape's relationship with Lily, and the heckling from Sirius and James would provide insight into his character. No one is all good or all bad. And my Lily is a feisty little lady, who knows what she wants and doesn't need a man to tell her what to do. At the same time she can be vulnerable, as can Severus. My challenge to me is to tastefully depict this in the next chapter, make it believable, and provide a giggle or two. Author's Response: Ellcey, Finally Ch. 4 and 5 are posted. | You have my curiousity piqued - I can not wait to see who exactly Dumbledore is conversing with. I love Severus and Hermione - not too much longer before the line blurs and disappears - yay! Brilliantly done. Author's Response: Thank you for the review. I love writing Severus and Hermione; they are a wee bit alike, in an academic sense. With whom is Dumbledore conversing? Dumbledore, the greatest wizard of his age, has accumulated a vast amount of knowledge during his life, with a little help from his confidant (AU - my version) - a questionable relationship at best. Hermione will figure it out. There is a little good in the worst of us, and a little bad in the best of us. Does the end justify the means? | |||
