Reviews for A Rose for Hermione

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. And we all know that not everything in life is cheery and fluffy. It was a very good story and did broach the subject of love vs. obsession very well, which has been on my mind lately coincidentally. Yes, Hermione had crossed that line but I don't think she started out being obsessed. It came about after thinking that one of her dearest friends had betrayed her.

Author's Response: You are exactly right. Very insightful. I've been thinking about love/obsession, too, and I thought it fitting to slip that in. :)

Well, well... Something different, indeed! I don't think I've ever before read a story where Hermione is actually insane. Very interesting... I wonder why by far the biggest part of '50 years later' stories portray their main characters (be it Hermione, Harry, Snape or someone else) as thoroughly disappointed and wearied by life? It makes me so sad.. I guess I'm too young to believe that life really is that hard. Very thought-provoking and refreshing (though in an angsty way!) story, thank you.

Author's Response: Thanks. I am nearly 31, and while I'm not fifty, my life is nothing as I thought it would be. That's mostly my fault. Hopefully by the time I'm older, things will have finally fallen into place. Thankfully not everyone falls into despair and takes wrong turns.

I liked the way that you wrote this. I had actually read "A Rose for Emily" in my English 205 course so I knew what this was based on, but I thought this just seemed like a work of its own. Hermione would try to do anything in her power to bring him back and if defying the ministry and Harry was part of that then so be it. I liked that it was Ron who set everything in motion, lying to Hermione about who sent the Dementer. I actually laughed in a horrified way with Percy wondering if he would get a promotion. Sadly there are a lot of people out there like that. Very well written!

Author's Response: Thanks for reading. I'm glad that you liked it. Yep, there are so many different ways this could all be taken. It makes us wonder. Cheers

Very powerful and poignant story showing the darker side of love. And I could definitely see Hermione going as far as that in the name of love. It's a pity Harry couldn't have matured in the same way she and Ron did back when they were younger when it came to Snape otherwise this could all have been avoided. He spends more of the fic calling Percy a 'git' when he too fits the mould. Sorry to hear about your friend.

Author's Response: I agree. If he'd not been so biased about Snape, things could have been better for all of them. Thank you for reading.

This was great! For one second I thought Percy was human, but then raise and promotion? Still a git! Can't believe Ron let her rot all those years...

Author's Response: Yeah, Ron wasn't very wise in keeping silent about her whereabouts. He should have trusted Harry more than that. Percy will never change--I don't think anyway. LOL

Not quite as creepy as A Rose for Emily, since Severus wasn't dead when she was sleeping next to him...but it still hit the same kind of nerve. Very good.

Author's Response: I definitely agree. Thank you!

This was a very interesting story - so many possibilities. I have to admit though, I really think "friends don't let friends live with dementors" should be a bumper sticker.

Author's Response: Hehe... I agree. That's mah silliness coming out. You know the whole friends don't let friends drive drunk or sleep with funky people? LOL.

I think this is brilliant. I wish you would write more stuff like this, in several ways it is very imaginative. Does obsession really trump love?

Author's Response: Thanks, Drox! That's a good question. One that I always think about (pertaining to other things of course...) hehe!
