Marks: grade 1, acceptable (*cries quietly in corner*) Grade 2, exceeds expectations (*begins breathing again*) Grade 3, Outstanding (*calms down*) Also archived at Archive of Our Own Breaking news: was at the wizarding world of Harry Potter, and what did I find at Madam Malkin's but hg and ss costume dress forms standing next to each other, off by themselves. Do we have a shipper there? Anyway, can report on texture of Snape's frock coat: softer and nubblier than expected, very cuddle-able (which is odd). Fabric looser in weave than the film version. Academic gown over it was synthetic, as this is the version of the costume that's for sale there. Very billowy, but doesn't have the same drape as the film version. I was about the same age as Harry when I read hpps. In a way, I grew up with these people. From the very first speech in that long-distant Potions classroom, I was fascinated. I have been reading SS/HG since about 2002, and have written several. Only a few of them are going to be published (no one wants to read my younger fic; I was working through some things). Regarding ss/hg: I understand those who have come to see this as unrealistic when h is a student. I think they fail to take into account the following: Hermione is an only child, and therefore very likely to be quite mature for her age, having grown up in the company of adults. She is also very clever and wiser than her peers. S Snape is immature for his age; we see this in his spiteful attitude, pettiness, and temper. It is possible (not likely) to meet your perfect match (my husband of sixeen years) when you're a teenager. Teachers and students can fall in love and yet decide to wait until that power imbalance is negated to act on it. Trust me on this one.
