Facets

~*~

spring moonlight reflects
tears tracing your cheek
Malfoy’s cruel taunt, ‘Mudblood freak!’

~*~

a bold tilted chin
fire sparks in brown eyes
your wounded heart hides your cries

~*~

hide in my dungeon
untouchable here
none suspect I hold you dear

~*~

The Boy Who Lived dies
from a curse direct
our world suffers its effects

~*~

by my traitor’s hand
the Dark Lord’s broken
it is my winter token

~*~

my restitution
I seek redemption
be my jailor and my wife

Finite

AN: I’ve never written poetry, but the recent entries piqued my curiosity, so I thought I'd give it a try, and I must admit that I have a whole new respect for poets. It's bloody difficult, and my efforts are a bit simplistic. But it was kind of fun.

I’ve always been fascinated by haiku, the 17 syllable Japanese form, broken into lines of 5, 5, and 7 syllables. Regrettably I haven't managed the full classical form which includes the aspect of cutting (a swift paradigm shift), nor have I been able to incorporate the seasons in each piece. But it’s my first attempt. The rhyming couplet isn't standard, and would probably be considered a defect.
