Snape stared out the dark window in the direction of Hogwarts. He could not see it of course; it was far away and all but a distant memory. A constant reminder of his past life sat across the room from him, quietly reading. He knew at one time, the castle would have been a barrage of pink and red, singing valentines, shy glances, blushing faces, and crowded broom closets.

He was thankful for his sedate surroundings. His only reminder that it was Valentine’s Day was Hermione whispering, “You have my heart,” in his ear before she went off to bed.
