I read this after it was featured as a randomly selected story. Nice one-shot. In fact, you did such a good job, you didn't need to put those annoyingly juvenile "Flashback" and "End Flashback" markers in there. Have you ever seen a professional writer do this? Your readers are intelligent enough to be able to tell the difference between past and present, and your writing is good enough that you made the transition points perfectly clear. Using "Flashback" and "End flashback" markers actually detract from your work. You don't need them, and neither do your readers.
Author's Response: You are absolutely right. I posted this a long while ago, and it was my first fanfic ever. Going back to look at it, the flashback and end flashback markers always made me cringe but not enough to do anything about it. Well, enough is enough and I've changed it. Thanks for your contribution and making the reading experience that much better. :) |
