| Curiouser and curiouser...Snape actually feels something for her, enough that he would burn the original contract and write a new one up to her liking. To now know that he cares what she thinks of him makes him more pitiable, knowing he wanted her from the start and thought this was the only way of having her. He does seem to be showing some tenderness towards Hermione and for the fact he wants her of her own free will instead of under the compulsion of a contract makes the sex part of their relationship a bit more equitable...just a bit. I'm not hating Snape so much now. I like how loathsome and despicable you had him a the beginning and how I'm feeling less disgust towards him over time. A nice progression of disgusting Snape to desirable Snape. He's not quite there yet, but the progression is slow and believable. Interesting how he needs her emotionally more than she needs him...wel for comfort at least. It seems the sclaes have tipped in Hermione's favor, at least where the heart is concerns and she now hold the most important power of all, power over his heart. Author's Response: She still doesn't know what exactly he feels for her, though -- he said from the start that he wanted her, but that could be completely physical. | |||

| Clearly Severus does not want to be the cause/reason for any physical distress Hermoine experiences from their agreement. Emotional pain is not as easily defined for him. By avoiding her so effecively after her outburst he seems to show how deeply she can hurt him. This seems to me to be very in character. He is very sensitive about his self-perceived attractiveness - and no wonder - his experiences (and choices) as a teen and adulthood have shaped him into a damaged man. He is the X in Ms. Rowling's grand equation. Perhaps this is what we all find so interesting. Redemption is possible :)
Renegotiating again? I love it! Enough times to get it right? HaHA!! Tomorrow is not here soon enough.
