This is the best line ever! "If you must know, I turned you away so vociferously the last time precisely because you are a temptation. But my dear Miss Granger, you have worn me down. You insisted on throwing yourself at me again — if for other purposes than I had in mind — and I see no reason to keep frustrating both of us.”

Author's Response: He does dress up awfulness quite elegantly, doesn't he? |

Not exactly what I expected. There is something very deep in your Snape. He is definitely 'Snape' in this, not 'Severus'.
Author's Response: I always think of him as Snape. It's an excellent name for such a character, isn't it? |

I first read this years ago; in fact, I think it was one of my earliest "favorited" stories here. The beginning is so distinctive, I recognized it at once. But your details are so delicious, like this: "He was a dangerous, damaged man. Why hadn't she understood that? Why hadn't Dumbledore, with all his powers of deduction?
Or had the headmaster known and done nothing to help, thinking Snape a more useful spy the way he was?" That says it all: dangerous and damaged. Yes he is, and well you depict it. I shall enjoy rereading this.
Author's Response: Thank you -- I'm glad you think it's worth another read. (By the way, I wasn't a proponent of jerk!Dumbledore when I wrote the story. It was just convenient to the plot. Imagine my shock when that characterization became canon, at least where his interactions with Snape were concerned.) |

what a unique start. I feel like Snape is very canon here. I always envisioned a real SOB even though I enjoy stories that make him only a "little bit" of an SOB as well.
Author's Response: He's got real issues, that's for sure. |

Beautifully written chapter. I loved the dialogue. Their characterization is canon; I love it! Also, Severus's sexual demands are down right stimulating (in other words: hot!).
Author's Response: Hermione's left cold, but then she doesn't appreciate Snape's methods. I'm glad you're enjoying the tale. |

"Or had the headmaster known and done nothing to help, thinking Snape was a more useful spy the way he was?" I'd say that hits the nail on the head. Glad to see Hermione doesn't think the old SOB was perfect.
Author's Response: I had no idea that canon would end up backing me up. SOB indeed. |

I have read Married alive... a sad story indeed, but very realistic... but I perfer fantasy... and I love this story.
Author's Response: I aim for realistic fantasy -- you'll see if I succeeded, and if you still like it. :-) |

very cute ending to the chapter
Author's Response: Eeee -- not too cute, I hope. It's really not a cute situation, and I've failed if it comes off that way. (Though I do capitalize on black humor, I admit it.) |
