Hmm. I worry if that tramp on the sidewalk is what is seems, or is really a spy from the Ministry? Loved Snape holding her closer on the subway. Good chapter; thanks!

Author's Response: Oh, good guess!

Party time - seriously, they should have made Snape bake the cake.

Author's Response: I don't think the twins trusted him not to throw in potions ingredients for good measure.

Canvas bag? Canvas bag??? She carried the damn thing for seven years and you think a twenty year old adult would still be carrying a Canvas bag like an immature schoolgirl? I would like to think for all the smarts Hermione claims to have, that she would have traded her old habitual "canvas bag" for a smart leather satchel or tote!

Author's Response: True story: I bought a smart leather satchel to replace my old canvas bag when I graduated from college. Hated it. Missed the canvas bag, which is exactly what I'm using now, in my mid-30s.

so cute!

Author's Response: Snape would like to register alarm that he appears in anything that could possibly be considered cute. ;-)

I didn't know Close but no cigar was a verb....

Author's Response: I subscribe to the Dr. Seuss theory of writing: Feel free to make words and phrases up. ;-)

^_^ I'm in love with this story! ^_^ I hope to read more soon. I love that you've kept Snape very Canon! ^_^ Thanks a lot for that! I hope to read more soon! Hope her birthday cake doesn't taste too bad!

Author's Response: Fanon Snape irritates me -- well, at least most of the fanon attributes; I suppose a Snape who's falling in love is a detour from canon. Don't worry about the cake ... Fred's not a great cook, but he knows his sugar from his salt.

Gah! I loved the little scene on the train where he pulls her closer. And too sweet of him to keep her out of the house while the others made preparations for her birthday. Lovely, just lovely.

Author's Response: Snape can of course justify the good deed to himself: "I'm not sweet, I'm sneaky!"

Skin regeneration creme, eh? Why do I have the feeling that when she gets there Hermione'll find that that project and her spur-of-the-moment Polyjuice cover have more in common than just the name? The adroit diversion of Hermione was very well done, though I think Snape probably didn't have a chance; he'd tipped his hand with the last few thin excuses to stay at the Ministry. And...Fred and Ernie, with kitchen appliances? I almost don't want to find out what the cake'll turn out as (if it's flavoured with cough syrup I'll scream and flame: fair warning) But I loved the line "a man who out-and-out told her not to trust him." Reason indeed. Though I've never heard that falling in love was done with the head.... *grin* Thanks, and I can't wait till chapter 25.

Author's Response: No cough syrup, don't worry! And though love isn't about reason, it's not surprising that Hermione would try to think it through ...
