Gah! I would have forgotten about the phone and looked behind me to see if Snape was there!
Author's Response: It would be alarming, wouldn't it? |

Author's Response: Though of course they'll each end up with only half the salary! |

"and black trousers with no buttons at all but a metal contraption he despised." I laughed out loud. Back in the eighties when Levi Strauss made a big deal about "button fly" being the newest thing in sexy, I knew only a few cutting-edge, upper-teen boys willing to forgo the speed and familiarity of the zip for the sex appeal of unbuttoning. They were probably the only sexually active non-adults I knew at the time. Snape in button-fly trous....Whew, is it hot in here?
Author's Response: So buttons have always been sexy, eh? And here I thought it was just a frock-coat thing. ;-) |

Aaaegh! There's no more! (Guess I didn't wait long enough to start. Yes, I know you're putting more up every couple of days, but that doesn't help me now, dammit!) I have to hand it to the new Evil Overlord (I have to call him that, since he or she has apparently read the List) whoever he or she is is alarmingly competent. And if he's not muggleborn, he's learned from the muggles; he's been going about his coup in an alarmingly intelligent fashion. Voldemort should have been half so smart... All that's left is for Nott's replacement to assassinate Fudge, and the Evil Overlord's in a perfect position to declare martial law and take over. So, if you're still running a guess-book, (I haven't been reading other reviews for a goodly while, so I'm not sure) put me down as guessing Dawlish. And please post the rest soon? :sniffs, then goes back with the intention of hitting 'refresh' until something happens:
Author's Response: I'll stick your guess on The List for future reference -- and I'm now (7:15 p.m. EST) about to give the next chapter a final read before posting. |

Oh, excellent. I love Snape's back-to-business voice there at the end, interrupting the hopelessnes and the pathos. And I actually laughed out loud (and began reading to my fanfic-hating hubby) when Fred found himself compelled to "take back" all the horrid things he'd ever said about Snape. *sigh* I do so look forward to updates...
Author's Response: You have a fanfic-hating hubby, too? Ah well -- I suppose that's not unusual. ;-) |

I've been reading, but so busy I haven't had a chance to review. So here it is - I LOVE this story - a very unique storyline, so very well paced, and extremely interesting. I like the small steps they're taking, and how they're both denying the obvious for as long as possible. Am interested to see who the healer is, and how Malfoy answers some of Snape's questiosn (if they ever get him near) and... well, everything, really. I do think it's worse, knowing that the fic is done and we just can't read it except in the bits and pieces (OK, full chapters, but I felt like being dramatic) that you're giving it to us in. Thanks for the work - because it IS work, as enjoyable as it is - in creating such a great story!
Author's Response: Oh, you've made my day -- you know how much I love "Cloak of Courage." I'm not being deliberately cruel on the posting schedule -- I could go once a week, after all! -- but I thought a bit of time between chapters would both encourage people to think of theories and give me time to make minor alterations as suggestions come in. (No major alterations, though. The story's set.) |

Excellent stuff - can't wait to find out whether Malfoy is attacking or has been attacked..... Love the gadgets...hoping to see a wand constructed from a pen and a cigarette holder (gold, of course or gold wood at least...) even if only Hermione can use it....
Author's Response: Or perhaps an exploding hair pin? ;-) |
