So she continues as she began, alone and completely reliant upon herself as she's moved beyond her friends' still slightly childish delight. Somewhat of an island unto herself. Very poignant. Author's Response: I hadn't realised that there was a sort of 'circular story' tone there, but I very much wanted to convey that she feels she only has herself to depend upon.
