"some odd lovechild of Mephistopheles and Puck." This is still one of my favorite lines in any HG/SS fic!

I love this story, I remember reading the first chapters years ago, and I do hope that you update.

Oh. My. Mrow. People seem to tend not to do Vampire Snape, probably because they feel it is too obvious a leap, and because vampires have been very done in pop culture. You have turned both facts to your advantage in this context, and this is one of the most striking and enjoyable fanfics I've ever read. If I may be frank: I have a chronic illness. It's something that is controlled with medication, but which I always have to take into account in making decisions. Your portrayal of Snape's vampirism is reminiscent of that--the sunblock, the iron pills, the quill-breaking--all part of adjusting his life to accomodate a profound physical change. And it's the first time I've seen such a treatment of vampires: vampire fiction tends to focus on Miltonic bombast and subculture politics, not on simply *living*. This story, though, is not an Oh-my-God-Snape's-a-vampire story, and Hermione is not an Oh-my-God-Snape's-a-vampire person. And I adore her for that: she acts just exactly the way I would expect a matured Hermione to act in these situations--the way I would expect an intelligent, *rational* human person to act. Lovely. My favorite part, though, of all of this was the brief mention your narrator makes somewhere along the line about how in many ways Snape is more human now that he's a vampire than he ever was as a person; it's a deeply, quietly saddening thought, and probably quite true. You have me on the edge of my seat; thank you very much for writing, and please feel free to continue if you're so inclined.

I found this story, looking thru a favorite author's favorites, and was pleasantly surprised. The few vampire Snape stories I've found have been silly and insipid, but this was very well written and captivating. I hope you are planning on an update soon! I doubt it, seeing the last time this was updated, but a girl can always hope. Anyway, this was a really good story, and I greatly enjoyed it.
