That was a really delightful story!

it always seems to me that all the people who are trying to 'redeem' the Malfoys tend to conveniently forget that he was a complete bastard even at the time when Voldemort wasn't in power. He tortured muggles during the international Quidditch match, no one forced him to do it, he, a 40-something man who went trough Voldemort's first reign of terror, did it himself at his own free will. He not only kept Voldemort's diary, he gave it to Ginny. Since the elves knew that it would lead to deaths in Hogwarts, Malfoy was the source of information. And while Dobby was unusual in his desire for freedom, he told enough things about the treatment of elves in Malfoy Manor for us to know that it wasn't just his imagination. Just because Malfoy got hoisted by his own petard, it doesn't make him a completely different person who suddenly grew a conscience. And while the Crucio theory is interesting, Longbottoms can't be used as the proof, because they were not tortured to get information about the Order, they were tortured because Bellatrix&Co thought they knew something about Voldemort's disappearance, which they did not and therefore didn't have anything to hide. And last but not least, while there are passages about boys not wanting to do their homework (most schoolchildren don't) while tired from school and their additional duties, they still did it, there are plenty of examples of them doing it on their own, without Hermione pestering them, not to mention that one of the books literally starts with something like "Harry was an unusual boy, he liked to do his homework", so there goes the 'stupid lazy Harry' theory. Sorry, I know a lot of people make Hermione into a Mary Sue genius partially by making Harry and Ron into complete idiots, but it is a bit tiring. And it is a bit sad to see this fanon from a smart author like yourself. If it was some teenage fantasy, I wouldn't have cared in the least. Normally, I try to give either good reviews or none at all, but sometimes, when the writing is good, I can't resist... Hopefully, you will not take it as an insult, but something that could be useful.

so let me get this straight, Hermione was allowed to help, instantly came up with solution that Snape didn't think of despite reading the same article (not to mention that she had enough free time to read all of them), promised Snape not to talk about Lucius, but used the first opportunity to accost Draco in a public place where anyone could have overheard them. Not only that, but she shared information that wasn't her to share! She had no way of knowing if the cure was going to work or not, Snape, the author, who was doing the work in secret, chose not to tell Draco, but she decided that she had the right to reveal it to Draco anyway. I mean Hermione has enough faults, but she's not 13 anymore, she had to grow up at least a bit not to make mistakes of this degree... It's as if there are different stories mixed into one. All of them are well-written, all make sense on their own, but contradict each other at times. Like Hermione here, it's the elf debacle on a new level, Hermione tries to force her ideas of "good" on others, but fails to realise that she actually being egoistical, not helpful, many people make that mistake, but in the beginning she was written like she became smarter than that. It could be written like that, but then it would be a 'Hermione is growing up' story, not a 'Smart Hermione is being a grown up' one. Snape with all of his detentions is very demonstrative contradicting the fairly accurate analysis by Remus. His reaction to Hermione's offer of help is again realistic but contradicts the false detentions narrative, it's like it's two versions of Snape entered the same story, and so on. All of these could be written separately, but being mixed together makes them less realistic, in my opinion. They don't have to be just one thing, but the logic of their behaviour seems to be limping at time, at least it seems that way to me. Sorry. But as I said, it is well-written, and those parts of story on their own are quite brilliant.

great story, lovely build and a great place to end it. Lovely interplay of characters and great story building. Slightly inaccurate sex scenes and a few moments of red flag Snapey-ness, but otherwise amazing :D

I really enjoyed this - one of those stories that you think about when you're out and about, not just when you're reading. I particularly liked the way you showed relationship development while not glossing over the harder things about their lives. Great balance.

The attitude on these two feels like it has gently developed, as I would imagine. I love the chemistry of this last scene.
