| Excellent chapter! Only one thing, though, in the paragraph 38 lines up from the bottom (beginning "His heart sank further.").
It's in the fourth sentence. Aren't the Death Eaters going to want H & S to do it again to PROVE the two of them are using a contraceptive? That's what would show them to be liars. If they disprove using contraceptives, they they aren't going against the Dark Lord's decrees. I think the Death Eaters want to prove that Snape & Hermione ARE evading Voldy's will, by contraceptives, Histo Malleus, whatever means. To disprove they're cheating would mean they are innocent. That's not what the DEs & Voldy want to find.
Other than that, a perfect chapter--ending with a cliffie, to boot! Author's Response: So bear with me for the complicated explanation . . . Sev expected them to not be able to fulfill the enchantment because they had had intercourse before and he wasn't aware that Hermione could cast a wandless Histomalleus. But if they did receive the punishment, this could be due to a) having engaged before (which Sev had previously denied) or b) having used a contraceptive. If Hermione was polyjuiced and they didn't receive the punishment, it would demonstrate that the punishment delivered the first time was due to the fact that they had been together and since that had been denied by Severus, he would be proven to be a liar. I know . . . complicated. I don't know how I write myself into these conundrums! | |||
