Oh what a wonderful story so far! Love the imagery you have painted with your words. Interesting that he has named the dog "Bella" hummmmm...??? I really enjoyed Hermione's flight on the float plane. I got to ride in one a year ago and it was really a unique experience to take off and land on water. That experience made me fell really connected to the story. I can't wait to find out why Snape chose this place to stay and what he is searching for, if he is indeed searching for something!

Author's Response: Thank you! It's so nice to hear that the story is resonating; the bit with the float plane was a definite joy to write -- I did a LOT of research to get the details right; good to hear that it works! Next chapter's in queue.

Author's Response: I lied. The next chapter is NOT in queue; the mod booted it, and since I've no intention of capitalizing verbs just b/c JKR does, this story likely won't be continued here on Ashwinder. I've posted the next chapter to AO3 (check my bio for the link).

Thanks for writing! I like the setting, and that it is described mainly via dialogue. good slowly building suspense, and bureaucracy networking back in Toronto. A question: What does 'YPO' mean?

Author's Response: I'm glad you're enjoying my set-building, and that the story is intriguing you! YPO is the airport code for Peawanuck, Ontario.

I had to stop reading, momentarily, to thank you profusely for including mention of the missing and murdered indigenous women. I'm a native woman, living in California, and activist. I'm also a 1 of 3 survivor (1 in three native women report being raped by the age of 30, though most don't bother to report, knowing they won't see justice). I could cry in thanks, seeing awareness being brought in this manner. Thank you, so very very much.

Author's Response: Thank YOU for sharing, and for finding the strength within yourself to be an activist. I consider the systemic mistreatment (ranging from widespread Treaty violations to the residential schools and cultural genocide) of our First Nations, and the plight of indigenous women in particular to be the most shameful act --both historically and ongoing-- in which my country has engaged. For anyone not familiar with the topic, more than 12,000 indigenous women are missing or known to have been murdered in Canada alone (the total population of indigenous peoples is only ~230,000). While our new Prime Minister seems to be making efforts towards reconciliation with First Nations, there is a long road to travel towards justice. I'm glad that my inclusion of these issues here came off well. I have been making an effort to portray light and dark, and I'm thankful that readers like yourself are seeing the intent behind some of the characterisation I've portrayed (e.g., Lefebvre is unthinkingly non-PC, verging on racist -- which is a very real phenomenon in many places). I hope that you continue to enjoy the story.

Author's Response: Le sigh. And I should edit before clicking submit. 1,200 missing and murdered women.

Like all your descriptions of how to get up there. Seems snapey:)

Author's Response: Totally not kidding, it's bleak up there. Bleak, but also eerily beautiful. Peawanuck and Sutton Lake are real places, although I've taken some liberty in some of the details.

Wow! LOL! I was just in Montreal two weeks ago so I feel very in touch with this story. I really enjoy your writing style and your attention to details. Your research is paying off as far as authenticity of the "staging" for this story. I have read a few story s that take place in Canada but this one seems far more real. I like the tension you have developed too (how the squibb found out who Hermione was working with at the last minute and displayed distaste for this person so you know there is going to be some sort of conflict ahead). Well done. I will read the next chapter soon when I have some fee time. I look forward to it!

Author's Response: Can I offer you internet huggles? Your comments are utterly thrilling, I'm completely delighted that my detailing is actually adding to the story for you -- I'd worried that it was a case of authorial "wanking", and that people wouldn't be able to relate, or worse, would actively question why I was bothering. Hearing how the characterisation (and how I've built character interactions) is also coming across is also deeply gratifying. I, uh, I kinda hate to say this, but I'm working harder on this tale than my dissertation at present. So I'm profoundly grateful to keen and insightful readers like you!
