So well done. Your prose is very evocative. It set the mood well and drew the observer in. Thank you.

Author's Response: Hello and thank you for reviewing! It was a very hard time for young Severus - I wanted to portray that along with his resilience and resourcefulness. Sorry I took so long to respond... The Great Ash Crash has had me circling the site apprehensively for some while now :oP

Wonderful job. Love the look at his childhood and the idea of chocolate!

Author's Response: Thank you! We don't see much of his childhood in the books, just enough to know that it was pretty bleak. And no-one to give him chocolate and tell him not to wipe his hands on his trousers!

What a wonderfully drawn snippet of Severus's boyhood--you've really made me see the gritty environment along his twisted path through the neighborhood. And his endless suspicion and superb skills as a spy are clearly rooted in his ability to navigate this environment. And then after all the hunger and bad memories, a book about food with a happy ending. And then you give us the boy's real-life happy ending, complete with chocolate. Lovely.

Author's Response: Hi Amr! Thanks very much - quite a streetwise little urchin, wasn't he? The happy ending took longer to manifest for him, with a walk or two through hell along the way, but it looks like he might think it was worth the wait. He's a big boy now, so he can eat as much chocolate as he wants, whenever he feels like it ;o)

This was so cute! It was nice to see his experience as a boy :)

Author's Response: Thanks MeliJ - it wasn't much of a boyhood but it made him very tough and tenacious.
