| "Death and life are in the power of the tongue." It is good to see Severus realize that he can speak life to Hermione with a single kind word (letter) to tell her she is valued. Very good solution to the problem of "what do I get her?" How about respect?! Author's Response: He did respect her, I think he saw he continued presence as her not respecting him... Considering how little friendship he's had in his life he was hard-pressed to realize it until it was gone. :) | |||

| I love the snarky tone you wrote it in with all the capitalized words. His grudging & beleaguered tone as Hermione brings him kicking & screaming (or so the accomplished liar tells himself) into happiness is exactly what I imagine him to be in the setting you created here.
