What a wonderful and beautifully written tribute to your friend. It's been 3 years since I made that decision for my best friend and even though I know in my heart it was the right decision at the right time, it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Best wishes on your upcoming wedding.

Author's Response: Thank you so very much; I agree, it's a horrible decision to have to make, no matter how right it truly is.

This made me cry. I'm so sorry for your loss. It's never easy to lose a beloved furry companion. My family has always had cats and since I was little we've lost two and my personal cat was stolen while I was away at college, I have another kitty that I guard jealously now, so please excuse me while I go and shower love on her.

Author's Response: Thank you; I wasn't as close to our cats in the past, mostly because they weren't really mine, and this really hit me hard, I admit. I'm sorry about your own kitty-losses. Please give your kitty extra love for me!

I think our cats know how much we love them and how selfish we are about it. I think they forgive us our weaknesses even though we don't forgive ourselves. I hope for you that the pain of loss will lessen and be crowded out by your memories of the silly and special times. My cat Bogie died while I was liviing in Japan. He had a great fondness for catnip. I had found some "spray" catnip and I sprayed it into a red cap off of a furniture polish can. Bogie stuck his face so far into the cap that it stuck to his face -- all he was was a red cap with black ears! That is how I like to remember him.

Author's Response: That's adorable!! DC liked catnip, too, and especially these little treats we'd get him - if we didn't close the jar fast enough, he'd be in there headfirst :)

You made me cry. I'm so sorry about the loss of your cat. My mom was a great lover of cats, and I miss her too. This is a beautiful story, and realistic too. Thank you for writing and sharing it.

Author's Response: Thank you, too - I'm sorry about the loss of your Mom, too! :(

I lost my Siamese cat, Kiki, to breast cancer a few years ago. She was 14. I've not had another cat since. Maybe it's time. ^_^

Author's Response: It might be - as much as I miss having a cat, I'm waiting, too. :)

I know how hard it is to hve to make the decision to let a beloved pet go. My sweet kitty was 18-and-a-half when I had to do it. I have her ashes in a little jar.

Author's Response: We chose burial for our cat; I don't think we could have kept him that way. We'd be crying constantly. I'm sorry about your kitty.

Oh my goodness. I'm sitting here crying and telling myself it's just allergies. This is just plain wonderful. Thank you.

Author's Response: And thank you, as well, truly.
