This is a very creative and intriguing story, but also a bit confusing. I had to read it twice in order to get a good picture of exactly what happened...and even now, I'm not certain I really understand it. I gather that Severus's nightmares are not just nightmares but memories of events which actually happened -- and whatever went wrong with the Heart-To-Heart charm fourteen years before created Hermione's nightmares and caused her to misunderstand Severus's dreams. I guess the part I don't understand is exactly what went wrong with the charm...if the death energy from his Dark Mark transferring to her is what ultimately caused the problem, why did it take so long to manifest itself?

Author's Response: First off, thank you so much for reading! Secondly, you have some very good questions. The biggest problem with the charm involving the Mirror of Erised was that Hermione was a legal adult due to use of a Time Turner in her third year. The Mirror bound Hermione and Severus at the deepest level, which is how they came to be married. When she used a spell to resurrect him, drawing upon the power of the charm, she hadn't factored in how his Dark Mark would react to their "marriage" bond. When the death energy connected to her body and then released her, a sort of seed was planted; it was as intimate as a sexual act. Since it took fourteen years in the books for Voldemort to return (he came back at the end of book 4), I figured it would be a good number to use for the "return" of Voldemort through Hermione. Does that help?

As you continue to write and your voice grows stronger it would be wonderful to see this fleshed out to novel-length. You've invented some fascinating spells and nudged the Potterverse in quite a compelling direction. I think there is a great deal here. I'm enjoying your writing, you have the gift.

Author's Response: My goodness, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. :)

I hate Lily too. Cruel, shallow cow.

Author's Response: I know, the hateful thing. I've often wondered if she did it just to impress James.

Sweet ending to this dark little story. Nice job.

Author's Response: I confess, I did not know how it was going to end up when I started writing it; the plot sort of developed a life of its own. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Oh my, that was heartbreaking, poor HG and poor SS.

Author's Response: I've often thought that had JKR had the cajones, she could have gotten an entire other book just centered around SS/HG.

It would be so hard to always feel you need to measure up to the memory of someone else.

Author's Response: For some reason I am fascinated by how Hermione can overcome Severus's mental image of his perfect Lily, and it comes out in most of my stories in some way, shape, or form.

Poor Draco....wow that is a phrase i have rarely ever said. Interesting concept so far.

Author's Response: I wanted to explore him being overwhelmed without his daddy there to save him.
