Reviews for Third Time by Thestral

This chapter, for all the awkwardness, and stumbling for the characters, is my absolute favourite in this story. The emotions of later stages bereavement are conveyed with realism. I found the 'comfort sex', as decribed between Hermione and Kingsley, an exquisitely erotic and soulful scene.

Such a wonderful story. Excellent explanation you gave to Jadecadence, it filled in some myth details I had forgotten. Thank you for sharing this with us. Tenar

Absolutely amazing! A perspective I've never seen before, and well written.

I wanted to chime in with the others that have commended this story and tell you to keep writing! I think this story was an enticing combination of sexy, dramatic, and sweet. In particular, I want to tell you that I found Hermione's grief over Ron convincing. It rang true to me that she is able to re-live her sexual memories with him without despair even while she experiences them as another facet or her loss. But even more impressive was your conceit of Severus's "forced" occlusion, and your idea to link that to the Psyche myth was inspired. And how about your deft hand portraying his wonder and joy at the transformative power of sex? This was a strong and moving story. A "10." I hope you keep writing so we can see what other tales you have to tell.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, especially for what you say about Ron. I've been in SSHG fandom since 2006 and the question of what to do about Ron is always part of any SSHG romance. I wanted to make sure not to dismiss Ron in any way just because I personally find him incompatible with Hermione. I imagine that canon pairing was based partly on a purely physical compatibility that can't be denied, and I thought this Hermione would feel the loss of it in a tremendously sad way.

Just read this again and it's lovely. Great story telling! Don't stop writing fanfic because one person doesn't like what you wrote. You can't please everyone and why should you have to? This story is really good and your writing overall is very good. I agree with Jong_Kahn - next time just add an author's note at the beginning referencing the prompt and give a little background if it's a myth/legend.

Author's Response: This is wonderfully sweet of you. After years of swearing that I wouldn't enjoy writing fic, I tried this one and found that I don't enjoy writing fic. ;-) Writing nonfic, though: ahhh, bliss.
