Reviews for Just to Be

I really don't agree with that. Plenty of changes are made by creators or the creators think the changes that were made are fine but the fans strongly disagree. Star Wars is a huge example of that. I know plenty of HP fans that were disturbed by the change in the Severus' death scene. A lot of important things happened in the Shrieking Shack. Doing him quick and dirty in some boat house that was not even mentioned once in the books was an insult, I don't care if the Queen of England thinks it was alright. That doesn't change my opinion. I don't appreciate you implying that it's not alright that I disagree with JK Rowling, I can't think whatever I want. I also don't appreciate your snarky tone. Sorry I didn't remember your Authors Note from months and months ago. Would you remember some authors note you read that long ago? I read a lot of fanfics, it's hard enough to remember everything that's happening in each story, let alone one authors note from one chapter. This could have just been solved with a very simple explanation instead of with unnecessary attitude. I will refrain from reviewing any of your stories in the future.

Author's Response: Square deal. I'd rather not receive reviews like this in the future. This story has been complete (on this site) for almost six months and virtually everyone who reviewed since has read it recently. Forgive me for assuming you we're one of them; it seemed reasonable to do so under the circumstances. No one should be "disturbed" by changes made to an adaptation from book to film. That's extreme. (And if you can't stomach changes from canon, why are you reading fanfic? Changing canon is what we do!) I haven't liked every change by a long shot, but this one I did. You're absolutely entitled to your opinion, but that means I'm entitled to mine too, which is that if the creator of the universe, who clearly had this scene in the back of her mind for the entire 17 years she spent writing this series, thought the location change was fine, there's probably nothing for us to get our knickers in a twist over. She famously vetoed several changes, so it's not like she was asleep at the switch. If fanfic works you up this badly, you may want to consider a new hobby. This is supposed to be fun!

I really like your fic but I just have to mention this because it bothers me. Severus didn't give Harry his memories in the boat house, he gave them to him where he died, in the Shrieking Shack. It just took me really out of the fic.

Author's Response: I said in Ch. 2 that this story follows movie canon for the death scene. It was 100x better than in the book, number one, and it also made it much easier to rescue him (he's literally miles closer to the school). Read the A/Ns next time :)

Author's Response: P.S. If JKR had no problem with the change in venue, I don't think any of us have grounds to gripe about it.

During last week I’ve had a little bit more free time at hand and used it to read this story: it hat has been one of the most profoundly thought out and well written after-war stories I’ve seen, beginning with the unique plot about the orphaned and awfully abused Death Eater children to their therapy, to the ‘back ground’ of all the characters in this tale and last but not least to the depth, diversity and interactions of all of them. – I like the slow building up of the relationship between S.& H. After the first bumps it somewhat casually began and only then the varied hurdles and difficulties came up. It has been very rewarding to see them deal with them and carefully work out the different issues, not simply ‘kiss & make up’. – The past you invented for Severus and Lily is very convincing, it’s far more comprehensible that S. has been clinging so many years to this love than otherwise. – I loved your insightful, odd and intelligent Luna, especially her regard to Severus. And I liked your extremely mature Ron, it’s no little feat to love someone so deeply and then to accept their loss, to have the strength to do all to make the other happy. It’s nice that you gave him Hanna in the end. – But naturally the most fascinating one is Severus, his overcoming his mistrust, his demons of his past, his loneliness, and all of this very in-character – bravo for this deed. Thank you so much for writing and sharing this amazing tale, and I dearly hope to see more from you.

OMG, I can't believe I've missed this fic! The start is looking spectacular. Love the plot - and the new hairstyle! I've been searching for new, good fanfiction on Snape and have been coming up with a dead end (except for the fics that lacked either a plot or grammar). I am SO pleased now that I found a new fic worth reading! THANKS!

I don't know exactly how to express how I feel after reading this story, so I will try: - amazed, by your style and the flow of the plot, everything was blending really well together, and the plot was good and overwhelm me. - happy: because they managed to save them and help them - sad: because they couldn't save everybody and it is what is life, nothing is ever perfect. Your story caught me, I couldn't stop reading, I got addicted to it, I doesn't happen often, it make me think that your story is something that will have been most likely to happen at the end of Harry Potter. Thank you so much for this wonderful story, beautifully written and I really hope you will keep writing, you have a lot of talent.

This is my first time writing a review, but I just had to tell you how much I enjoyed your story. I started it two days ago and couldn't stop reading. The your knowledge of your subject was impressive, the development of the characters seemed natural to me, and their voices were spot on. Thank you.

Poor Leopold! What a pig that guy. Nice Christmas holiday, freak. I have never heard of anyone else using the deliminator to find someone in any of the other stories. Great idea!
