So atmospheric, I loved that line about his voice being featherd by exhaustion. Fab story that is doing a good job of distracting me from the flu. Thankyou!

Author's Response: I am so sorry you are unwell - I wish you quick recovery and comfort from your illness. Thank you for taking the time to write such lovely comments. I hope you will continue to enjoy the story.

I don't normally review but I just finished the seventh part and was struck by a line I didn't notice before. (I've reread this probably ten times now since you finished it since it gives me a warm fuzzy Christmas-y feeling that isn't too sweet.) You mentioned Severus getting that deer-in-the-Lumos look. It's amazing to me how completely in the world of HP your stories are that you would take the time to "Wizard/Witchify" muggle idioms. And the great thing is the edit did make a lot of sense since you've implied the Severus of your story has few good memories associated with the muggle world and has read mostly books from the magical world or Muggle classics. In short, he wouldn't be familiar with headlights. 10 out of 10 for mapping out the story so well that even idioms match the plot & characters.

Author's Response: Thank you so much - one of the fun things about writing fanfiction is finding those Muggle idiom that can be adapted. I think the first one I read was in Order of the Phoenix, when Miss Figg says something like, "In for a knut, in for a sickle" and that made me smile. I'm glad those little touches are noticed and that they give you pleasure. I have a soft spot for this story myself, and it always thrills me that others enjoy it so much. Thank you for your kind comments.

Wow! Speechless and teary eyed… I read your story in one go and couldn’t even stop myself to reflect at the end of a chapter! But now I have some thinking to do. ;-) I feel like the story really touched me in a special way and I won’t be able to leave it behind so easily… Maybe it’s because – at the end of book 7 – I was so angry and frustrated about Severus’ fate. Maybe, the way he was disposed of the second he was no longer needed makes this particular story so dear to me. As Severus remarked rightly “Being the lonely, misunderstood Byronic figure is pants.” :-) In my opinion, he played the tragic hero long enough. Hell, for seven long years we watched Harry Potter’s every step whereas Snape’s role remained elusive and obscure! And all the while I felt like we were almost catching the thread that would unravel the mysteries surrounding him... I have to say I was quite disappointed to “meet” him again, dying on the floor of the Shrieking Shack with nothing but a callously composed narrative of his lonely and pathetic life to help him face imminent death. I understand that his figure was an important stylistic device but as he has been much more to me than “just another casualty of the war” for a long time now, I can, until today, only marvel at the injustice of it all! But, enough rambling… The reason I started this review was not to criticize the author to which we owe these amazingly fascinating personalities (as much as I may be unhappy with some aspects of the books, I shall be careful never to forget about her wondrous creativity!) but to thank YOU ever so much for sharing your version of the tale and giving our dear characters the ending they deserved! - Minon

Author's Response: What a beautiful and thoughtful comment - thank you so much! I agree, I felt that Severus Snape was one of the most interesting and complex characters, and while I agree I wasn't happy with JKR's treatment of him, thankfully she left the end so open for us. No body, no portrait, no evidence. Her one gift to us was the ability to take canon and move it a little along, to give him that second chance he so dearly deserved. I once asked Aurette why she wrote SSHG and she said, "I just want to get the guy laid by somebody!" and while I can drink to that, I also wanted to give him a chance to live and grow and free himself from the prison of guilt and boyish remorse Dumbledore caged him in when he was only a couple of years older than Harry at the end. In other words, I want him to find love. When I run out of ways to write that, I guess that's my Muse's way of telling me to move on, but while there are still stories to tell than end Happily Ever After for Severus Tobias Snape, I'll write them. Thank you for your encouragement in this mission. - Teddy

Finally getting around to reading this one and so happy I made the time. :) The capital P in Pride made me think of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. Lol you should look it up if you're interested in anime. Love your writing!
