Hmm. Judging from this reaction, I wonder if Hermione had learned Occlumency more quickly than Snape himself had. He'd better be careful--he seems to be losing more control over his impulses regarding Hermione more frequently. Is he starting to crack, and dealing with his unresolved, unallowable, unacknowledged and inexpressible feelings for Hermione that which is driving him over the edge? Very scary. Excellent chapter.
