I read it to be he was watching Lily Evans, then at the end, there was Lily and Hermione. He is torn between his love for both.

I have been reading the comments and your interpretation came to my mind, as did the portrait idea. Beautifullly written as always!!

It reads to me like he has someone in his life already but watches her. His hand print is him wanting to comfort her and the reflections are on his side, so him and his "significant" whom he obviously doesn't truly love.

I agree with Fizzabella on both counts! :)

This was magnificent! I read the reviews and the other interpretations. Mine is that this begs for a sequel where the mirror no longer keeps them apart:) But I'm a sucker for happy endings:) Warm regards, Fizzabella

Author's Response: Ah, but I have so many bunnies to nurture already! (^_^;) And in my world, this is a happy ending, since my vision was of him going through the mirror to comfort her.

It's beautifully written, but... what was your interpretation of the events? I'm deadly curious. Please enlighten!

Author's Response: In this, I viewed Severus as a man too afraid to approach Hermione, yet in love with her to the point of obsession. In the end, her grief (which I didn't explain) is what finally pushes him to move past his own fears for her sake—he crosses through the mirror to her side.

Hmm.. I like this, but I would love to read your interpretation. At first I thought he was spying on her. Then I thought may she was dead and this was a "portrait" of her....

Author's Response: Interesting—I hadn't thought of a portrait as a possibility. In my view, he is, in fact, spying on her, unable to move beyond watching her from afar—until he witnesses her grief, which allows him to move past himself (through the looking-glass) and to her side.
