| I agree about Lily. Severus was alright as a friend as long as he was the only wizard she knew. But she started distancing herself from him as soon as she reached Hogwarts and met 'better' people. Her criterien of 'better' meaning richer and higher born. Just look at who she married ! Author's Response: mmm, good point, but was James Potter higher born? Not sure of his heritage, but I suppose he did excel at school etc. Poor Severus, it must have been incredibly painful. | |||

| Your fourth paragraph was so spot-on concerning Severus' feelings, it was inspired. My favorite sentence: "His hurt had been burning a hole in him more fiercely than his Dark Mark, a pain to which he had become so accustomed it almost ceased to exist..." Well done. | Good chapter. Sets up her loneliness some more, shows Sev trying to make things right since his previous visit, and yet how natural their time spent together was. I only have this observation: it never feels easy, right, or natural whenever any character sticks out their tongue in fanfic, unless they're a small child. Any time the character doing that is older than primary or grade school, it just feels artificial, trumped-up. Better to say she made a face, or a funny (silly, goofy) face at him. Okay, off my soapbox. Again: good chapter! Author's Response: mm.. interesting observation. I stick my tongue out at my husband when he's being particularly annoying, or we're messing around, and I am far older than Hermione! Guess it's a personal thing! | |||
