| “She had no idea why she felt emotional, but something in her world had shifted this night, and it didn’t feel one bit comfortable.”
Well, I guess Hermione’s tears are the beginning of her deciding what is important enough to her that she doesn’t think she could let it go and what she is willing to give up in order to have this “important” thing.
I’m glad at least that Severus came to see her get the award, and suspended the Disillusionment so she would know he was there, but it would have meant so much to her if he had accompanied her from the beginning.
Is it that Severus didn’t choose to go with her that has lead to her tears? Is it the offer to study in America for six months that has led to Hermione’s tears? A mixture of things I imagine. I don’t know how they’ll work things out, but I hope they can. It seems that Harry may have been just little prescient in saying that being with Severus might hold her back. What will she, they, decide?
This has been another chapter filled with mixed emotions. I can’t wait to see where you take our couple next.

| Oh, there is so much good stuff and resigned disappointment in this situation. For the last five years Severus and Hermione have been happily making a life for themselves among people who welcome them in their community, and then this award nomination presents itself, and it's like a little cloud appears... not a big cloud, just a little one. I can understand Hermione's wanting Severus to be there with her for the announcement of the winner, AND I can perfectly understand Severus' unwillingness to be amongst all the Ministry glitterati. She knows she should not have hoped so fervently that he would choose to be there, and he feels like he is letting her down. I'm guessing they will have to talk about this, but with Severus going upstairs it gives them both a few minutes to process their emotions and come back to what is really important... and decide what this is to each of them before they try to speak of it.
I found this to be a very emotional, if quiet, chapter. Thanks.

| Wonderful, wonderful..I hope that whatever is going to happen won't ruin the relationship between Hermione and Severus, but I have a feeling it's going to be bad..I just hope they will remember that they are better together than apart! | Wonderful two chapters. I had a feeling that her "contented life" would get upset soon...nothing good can last in these stories unless we are at the last chapter LOL! So Hermione may spend six months away from Severus. Maybe that will be the impetus to get him to say those three little words he seems to have so much trouble saying! | Ah! Might I guess that a six-month separation whilst Hermione's in America be what is troubling her? Their cozy little life together is about to be rent asunder, it looks like. Good pair of chapters--I can hardly wait for the next ones! Thanks for your hard work for us all! Author's Response: You've hit the nail on the head, totally.
