Reviews for Turn of the Tide

Ladies, ladies! Let's relax, take a deep breath, and remember that we're all on the same side here. Maybe there's been some encounters in RL that were less than pleasant, leading to looking for insults where none were intended. Looking back at chapter 2's reviews, I see there was "benefit of the doubt" freely given on both sides. There still should be. Raising a question about a character's motivations isn't a negative thing. In all honesty, I myself have been wondering where Hermione's sensible caution has flown to. I've decided she's so overeager to catch Makarovin (perhaps spurred on by fear of what he could do to others) that it's pushed her past her normal sense of caution. Perhaps she still feels like she's being judged because she's still on the young side, and is ironically, overreacting. One of the things Severus likes least about her (both in canon and in fanfic) is her need to prove herself right in all things. Now it's further complicated by their involvement with each other. It's a tense chapter! I can hardly wait to find out how you'll resolve it in the next one! In the meantime, let me simply observe that you're both good women, and you both deserve to have the benefit of the doubt extended to you.

My, you certainly are thin-skinned. You seem to read criticism into a simple comment. Maybe you are too sensitive to put your stories out on the web, where strangers can read and comment on them.

Author's Response: Not at all. Consistently, every single chapter, you've given criticism that doesn't have an ounce of constructive advice in it. I've been "putting my stories out on the web" for years and I don't think it's too much to ask to leave constructive feedback, instead of just nitpicking relentlessly.

ARGH! CLIFF HANGER OF ALL CLIFF HANGERS! You're evil, you know that? I have really enjoyed this story so far. At first I was slighty put out by the thought that Snape only liked Hermione for her make-over, but I'm glad that he's come to develop real feelings for her. Like I've heard before, Men fall in love with who they're attracted to, women become attracted to who they love. :P I can't wait for the next chapter! Update soon! :D

Author's Response: Trust me darling, I'm too much of a romantic to let Sev like her just for the outside ;) Thanks for continuing to read, hope you continue to enjoy, as well.

Yes, but in those days Hermione went along in the vain hope of keeping Harry and Ron out of trouble, and she's a Auror now, not a child.

Author's Response: If you are uncomfortable with the way Hermione is portrayed in my story, you don't have to read it. A lot will be explained next chapter, but I believe that it is ingrained in Hermione - or any Gryffindor, for that matter - to do whatever it takes to protect or save those they love. Furthermore, Hermione is an Auror, so it's not like she hasn't faced off with bad guys before... Not like it's not in her job description to do so. Finallly, it's not as if Hermione hasn't done exactly what the story would suggest; from the beginning it's been established she's independent and can take care of herself - she's one of the most talented witches of her age. But I digress. I can't make everyone like it, and at the end of the day, that's why it's called fanfic; everyone has their own opinion, their own story to tell. And let me tell you, if you're in the critical mood, there are a lot worse stories than mine out there.

Ooooooooo, it's getting really suspenseful now! I just found this story and spent the evening reading. Needless to say I'm thoroughly enjoying it and can't wait for more. Severus and Hermione are so passionate, Markovin is a great villain, and you are an evil evil author for tormenting your protagonists so! ;) Thanks for the fun!

Author's Response: Well I have to say, that made my day! More soon, I promise. :) Thanks for reading!

Author's Response: Nice. Exactly.

Its hard to believe Hermione would be naive enough to go to the vampire's home.

Author's Response: Really? The Trio did several naive but brave things during their years at Hogwarts, especially if it meant having a chance to save lives.

Great chapter! Makarovin could smell or sense Severus on Hermione couldn't he? Is that why he seemed so tense with her? How much did he hear if anything of Ron and Hermione's conversation or does he just assume she and Ron are together? Now, is he wanting to exact revenge against Severus or partner with him? Looking forward to seeing what hapens next!

Author's Response: You have the makings of a true detective, my friend! A lot will be answered in the next chapter, but also, all hell will break loose. Thanks for the review and for reading :)
