Reviews for Flight of the Prince

She's his captive, but He is one as well. He has no freedom. He has not for a long time. She isn't much more captive than she was as a student. The same rules pretty much applied only now she could be shagged if she wanted to. She feared for her life in school, now she is older and the danger is closer and more real. She is separated from her friends, but she was separated from her parents. She can't come and go as she pleases. Neither could she at school. People controlled her life there. Remember thinking, "I can't wait until I grow up and I'll be allowed to do anything I want"? Then you grew up and realized being an adult was even more constricting than being a child was. Children get to play. Grown ups get to go to work, clean the house, do the shopping, pay the bills, go to family gatherings and act like they are having fun and really wanted to come because they are polite ladies and gentleman. And sometimes it isn't as bad as you thought it would be. Being a mature adult is being a captive.

OK, she admitted that she would probably be there until the end of the war or until Voldemort ordered her death. There is this little thing called, making the best of a bad situation. If she want's to live, she'd better do more to make Severus look good. The more good things he tells Voldemort about her the safer she is. Is she aware that his "owning her" is what makes others leave her alone? Did she really hear what wormtail said? Everyone thinks she is the lover of the highest carnivore in that little food chain, under Voldemort. They envy her. Come on Hermione! Play the fucking game!!! Quit being the little princess! I guess I was born to be a Slytherin. Gryffindors are so stupid and as thick as mud! Quit asking yourself what Harry and Ron would think. They can't find their ass with two hands and they are the ones who got you caught because they are sooooo not sly! They need you. That makes you feel important. Well, little girl. Read between the F-ing lines; Snape needs you more! Life's a bitch and then you die. Get over it! Make the best of things you little twit! Is she not at all grateful that he is protecting her? She didn't do what she said and come alone. She forced his hand. Now, she needs to starting thinking about how to make this work to her advantage. Poor Malfoys. I know they're snobs but the mighty have fallen and they have swallowed their pride. I'm proud of Molly. She did the right thing.

Boy! It's hard to know what you'd do in her situation. I would be very conflicted about leaving Severus to suffer for my escape. But I know she feels she can be more helpful to the cause back with Ron and Harry. I think the only reason I would be able to look at a bigger picture is because I'm old and have learned that impulsive decisions aren't wise. I guess she feels urgency, but Snape sees the long view. She could bide her time to see what Snape will do when they get to leave there and have more privacy, as he said. She could try to plan a way of escape that wouldn't include getting Severus killed. If he is a spy for the Order, fleeing and letting him suffer for it would be destructive to their cause. If she thinks a little bit beyond her own bubble, Dumbledore showed them with the pensive that he felt insuring Severus' position as a spy was a cause worth dying for. She's still too immature to make a good mate for Severus no matter how lonely he is. She doesn't have enough life experience to see the big picture and the only reason Snape is where he is, is because he and Dumbledore could see the big picture. Snape also understood chain of command, but she and the boys have always been rogue warriors. She was almost there for a second when she was thinking about how hard this must be on him if he really is a spy for the light. Why doesn't she believe Dumbledore's memories and his picture at Hogwarts? She is having trouble forgiving Severus for killing Dumbledore, but then if Dumbledore was such a great man, why doesn't she believe what Dumbledore is telling her. If Harry and Hermione really think this through, Dumbledore has known Severus since he was 11. Tom Riddle didn't fool him. Why would Severus be better at tricking Dumbledore into believing he is a good guy than Tom Riddle was? Tom wasn't always Voldemort, but Dumbledore was always suspicious of Tom. Severus is skilled at protecting his thoughts, but he wasn't born that way. Dumbledore was a skilled Legilimense before Snape was a skilled Occlomense. I hope she grows up fast. I know she believes she is just thinking of others and what she needs to do to help the wizarding world, but she is so self absorbed in her own bid to be a hero, she can't seem to be aware of how her choices affect others beside Harry and Ron. What a freaking Gryffindore she's being. That is because she is immature. Cissy is worldly wise. Too bad Hermione couldn't see what she was doing to keep herself and Draco alive and wonder if that wasn't perhaps a skill worth learning. I know Snape is a racal, but I still end up saying this a lot, "poor Snape".

You can do this Mione. Just hang in there and trust Snape. He is protecting you and the Malfoys. Think about it, sweetling, Would he have the power to protect you if he didn't please the Dark Lord? Could he do his job for the Order if he didn't please The Dark Lord? His power comes from Voldemort. They listen because they know he is favored. Use your spare time to look at this in a more global way. I know you're in survival mode and worried about your virtue, but he said he'll protect you. So look a litter further at the dynamics of this group. It is time to grow up, little one. Be a woman. Follow Narcissa's lead.

What a bunch of silly children. Did they really think...Well of course they did. Snape brought someone too, however, technically he never said he'd be alone and she never requested for him to come alone. Who ever snorted is an idiot! Shuffling around where he could hear them...Those two boys have a lot to learn and they need to get over their idea that they are so great big wizards just because they've graduated school and lost their virginity. Couple of stupid, over confident pricks. Now, we'll have to see what happens between Snape and Hermione. She's only a half of a percent more careful than they are.

I wonder if she'll stop gagging and start thinking of Snape in a different way. She is still very much just a girl. I can see why she would be sexually attractive to him and intellectually attractive, but her maturity level would be quite a turn off, I would think. Of course, he is rather desperate to be loved. Poor Draco.

Ah Hah! If you hinted earlier, I only just got it. Snape will have to sleep with Hermione because she will think he's Ron. Then Snape will be smitten is my guess. I looks like our man is in for a rough ride for a while.

The last 2 chapters have been fascinating! I'm hoping Snape heard them in the forest and know they are suspicious. Dumbledore is being kind of a putz to Minerva regarding the secrets and I would think he would say something about not needing to speak so rudely to her. They all have to be pretty thick not to read between the lines and realize that he still trusts Snape. Does Minerva still trust him as an order member? For Snape's sake, I think Albus owes it to him to tell Minerva that he had ordered Snape to kill him. The setting things up part of this story, as you put it, is really very interesting. I want to tell you that your writing style is really wonderful for being easy and smooth to read.
