| *Sniffle*...poor Severus. He deserved a much better end than the one JKR gave him, although at least she saw to it that he finally received the respect and the recognition that he deserved (even if it was posthumous). Tragically, it's also somewhat hard to imagine that canon Severus would ever have been fortunate enough to find love since it seems clear that he followed the pattern of many people who were abused or neglected as children...they're often attracted to partners who give them what they're familiar with by neglecting, exploiting, or mistreating them all over again (and frankly, I never had the impression that canon-Lily cared all that much for Severus even though JKR says she did). | |||

| Sniffle. Lovely. Perhaps I shouldn't recommend this to Mr p, who actually does seem to get SS/HG (and has even written some) because he's much softer hearted than I am.
