Mazel Tov! Excellent chapter. It really threw me for a second when I read ‘yarmulkes’. But, Bubbes wield a strong hand. Neville’s grandmother did seem to intimidate him a bit at times. Lovely blending of the rituals - must have been a more modern rabbi to have performed the service. Love your writing,

I am enjoying the story, but Hermione is behaving like a spoiled brat.
At least Ginny has some sense. |

Firstly, I find the characters very difficult to sympathise with and not at all how I had imagined them to be as from the books- namely, Hermione makes idiotic decisions again and again, and has a very immature response to many of the situations presented. Likewise, Snape is exceedingly immature and reactive for his age. Secondly, I find the dialogue very informal and potentially Americanised (e.g. excessive use of "nah" and "nope"). However (and thirdly) the storyline is interesting and I'm really hoping the characters improve by the end. |

I really loved the first scene—Hermione's dream. That was very, vert well done. The imagery was almost perfect and it did an excellent job of summarizing Hermione’s dilemma as she sees it. |

I loved the beginning of this story and the middle is good, if repetitive to the point whole chapters can be omitted. The reason I had to stop here in the middle is to note how out of character Hermione is. Over several chapters she has been flabbergasted that someone is lying to her about the nature of the spell, but not once does she do anything to find out the truth. That is so not like her. Others have to drag her to a source of information or give it to her. She reads them, still refuses to make a decision or even address the issue, until someone again asks her about it, which results in her continued indecision. When someone rightly gets impatient over her indecision, she defensively states the annulment is a viable option, is again told, no it really isn’t, and is again completely aghast that SOMEONE must be lying to her, as if it’s the first, not fourth time someone told her it isn’t. This level of thick headedness would be bad enough but what happens in this chapter is the last straw. Only a fool would ask “why” when told to enters building to escape the bad guys firing hexes at you. Why? TO AVOID THE HEXES CURRENTLY FLYING BY YOUR HEAD!! She then asks “what?” when told to keep moving. I’m sorry, but this strains all credulity. Hermione is not only supposed to be smarter than this, she just emerged from a war. Her battle instincts should still be in effect. |

Your explanation about Patronus and Animagus forms is canonical. I do occasionally find it surprising that so few choose a spider for Severus, considering his role, however.
Author's Response: Thank you. I am a stickler for canon, and then make up what I need otherwise from science, chemistry or history and such. I think because we have never seen Severus' Patronus nor has it been stated, we as writers can pick whatever animal in the animal kingdom we want to that fits in with our plot and story-line. Kinda cool that way; opens up a whole world of creativity |

I wonder if beetles can survive in Antarctica.
Author's Response: lol I think it would be too cold for them. |

A little creative Obliviation would go a long way into fixing that little bug problem. Say ... a sudden desire to snap her wand and live like a Muggle? In Antarctica?
Author's Response: Good suggestion. I suppose that could work, except that they are magically bound.
Thank you for reading and for the review. |
