Lovely story, I remember reading this in the exchange but just now re-discovered it from a rec sit on LJ. You actually brought a tear to my eye with this one, great writing. I'm using it this week for my Tuesday rec at one_bad_man. Thanks for sharing. :)
Author's Response: It's still being rec'd? Astonishing. I'm pleased that it moved you and flattered you chose to rec it. Thank you kindly and merry holidays! |

I have read many of the stories on this site, but this was by far the best one ever!! It's such a sweet story. Amazing!
Author's Response: I have zero doubt you've found several other gems here that have surpassed this little tale, but I'm flattered you thought enough of it to say so. Thank you & merry holidays! |

Sorry....after boasting about attending a grammar school.....that should be "believe" not "beleive".

Author's Response: I don't stand on ceremony in casual conversation, so don't fret. |

What a great story and particularly pertinent to me as I attended Chadderton Grammar School for Girls in the seventies. And I know you pegged Sev as a Yorkshireman from Huddersfield but I think you were spot on with Chadderton. It is in the Oldham area of Lancashire and where my husband was born...although he lived on the outskirts of Manchester. Good job and I can't beleive that I have not come across this little gem before. Best wishes, Love Ali xxxx.
Author's Response: I'm glad you enjoyed it, and that it provided a 'taste of home.' Truly, a good writer can make me believe Severus hailed from just about anywhere. Now Rowling has definitively set Spinner's End in Cokeworth, it's almost sad to see the conformity taking place in fics.

Thank you for commenting. |

WOW. Aside from excellent dialogue, you do narrative amazingly well too! Amazingly well. Brief enough to keep one's interest but with enough detail to fill it all out nicely. And major kudos for the great formatting - the eye needs short paragraphs and white space in which to rest. And how do you manage to write such difficult subject matter with so much dignity and compassion? I suspect that you've perhaps worked in health care? I worked in retirement residences and nursing homes for several years so I can empathize with much of the physical difficulties you've written about here. Excellent story, thank you!
Author's Response: Yes, in fact, I was a respiratory therapist for some years before ill health necessitated giving up my career. I'm glad you found so much to enjoy in the story, thank you for commenting. |
