| I don't see why he had to go to this party just because she was going. They're not his friends. Why couldn't she go without him?
(The Xmas party would be different. Making separate plans for a day that's usually celebrated together by families would be rude. But just some random party on some random date; why can't they each do what they want?) |

| I like the way it ended, the beginning and the end work together nicely, but I did cringe a bit at the near rape attempt by Hermione. It is one thing to seduce him while he is awake, it is quite another to have a go at him while he's sleeping and only just woke up and isn't in control of his faculties yet (not the same if it is between established partners, of course). But thank you for not making it a successful attempt. |

| It is a novel approach to the 'they had to marry' plot. And I understand Snape's reluctance and even his desire to nobly back out (why didn't he just say so though?..)
There is one thing I don't understand. A big part of this chapter's conflict resides in their different approach to spending holidays. Hermione wants to spend it with friends in a big company, Snape obviously doesn't. And neither of them at this point wants to spend it together. Why is it that one of them has to suffer? I know perfectly happy couples spending their vacations apart because they wanted opposite things. |

Sigh. This was lovely. I really like your touch with the building tension between them, and the emotional complexity he's feeling. You really sold this well, and I spaced out reading it so that I could savour it.
