Reviews for Vain Wisdom All and False Philosophy

I've hoped for an update lately, and I'm so glad to read it. I was struck at how Greyback's/Remus's relationship is like an abusive parent/their child. I really pity Pansy. As for Severus and Hermione, it looks like they might work through their differences, though I don't expect their relationship to be a serene one.

Author's Response: Greyback/Remus are horribly twisted, and your description of it is spot on. As for Severus and Hermione I see many more differences to come. Sorry the update was long in coming. Thanks for the read and reviews!

AH! why haven't you updated in soo long! i miss this fic. please please write more soon!

Author's Response: Perfect timing! Just submitted the next chapter today. It'll probably take a few days to move through the queue. It has been too long. Sorry to keep you waiting!

You convinced me so thoroughly of Severus' complete lack of conscience early in this fic that I had trouble reconciling a few of his somewhat tender interactions with and ponderings about Hermione. However, the way you've woven his backstory in with Dumbledore's admitted regrets has been very nicely done and has made his actions very plausible to me. I'm enjoying your work and look forward to more.

Author's Response: I do see how he can seem a bit too tender too quickly. A similar comment was made on FF.net and I definitely could see how it can come across that way. The back story has been one of my favorite aspects of this story, with much more that has yet to be said. I'm happy you are enjoying it. Thank you for the read and review!

I rather like the darkness of this story, depressing as it can be. The choices aren's always clear, and the characters ambiguous for the most part. It's very real.

Author's Response: I am trying to make the characters realistic so it's rewarding that it seems real to you. Glad you like it so far! Thanks for the read and review!

Wow, that was an utterly amazing chapter. Nice that Hermione and Severus are finally getting somewhere. :) And Harry having to kill someone else before Voldemort. I think I have some sort of guess who it might be...

Author's Response: Guess are very welcome! All will be revealed in time. Thank you for the read and review!

God, that was quite a chapter! Again, a lot happened in all the different pieces of the story. I find the connection between Dumbledore and Harry very interesting! It's a very new idea, I think, that, in a way, Dumbledore's loss of power will enable Harry to succeed and finally kill Voldemort. The small part in which you wrote about Zabini was very good as well. And, of course, there's Severus. That he has to shoulder such a burden and choose which family has the "right" to life and which one can be left to die is much too big for one person. And it'll make Severus even more difficult to be with. There are so many well developed things in this story and I really hope you'll be updating soon! Bye, garnet.

Author's Response: I wasn't sure about the Zabini scene. He never had his own POV in this story so I was afraid that it might seem too random. But that scene was very vivid in my mind and does serve a purpose for the story, so I'm glad you liked it. And indeed, such decisions are too much for one person, even Severus. I'm very happy you enjoyed it. Thank you for the read and awesome review!

Severus as the chooser of the slain is a terrible responsibility... and one which I would wish on no-one else, for it is perhaps one of the most important tasks for building a future... or having one at all, for it involves balancing the effects on the children with the removal of the parents from the world entirely (barring ghosts). That task also means, almost certainly, that Severus can have no life in Great Britain after Riddle's defeat - there are far too many with far too much reason to hate him, and secrets like that won't keep, particularly as he has enemies within the Order as well as without. He must leave or die... or become the next 'Dark Lord' himself - though if he does, and if he leaves as well, or becomes a hermit recluse, does that not also affect the cycle? Hermione needs to bring some of Winston Churchill's writings, particularly about having to choose to allow the Germans to bomb a city essentially unopposed, because the fact that the German cipher had been broken was too important a secret. I would note that Albus is ignoring free will in his ideas, as is Harry, apparently. One does not, after all, _have_ to use power on a grand scale when one has it. Well done.

Author's Response: You're right, Severus' act of choosing is a VERY important task for building the future. And you are accurate also accurate--Albus is indeed, to the detriment of all, ignoring free will and only concentrating on purpose. I don't want to get too much into that or else I would revel too much, but a character in the story has already brought up this dilemma! I'm very excited that you enjoyed the chapter. Thank you for the read and detailed review!
