Reviews for The Curtain Falls

Severus Snape in Opera?! I have never come across him in this role before but it's fantastic, he has such presence and an amazing voice. I couldn't stop giggling at her calling him a "drama queen" Gods that was just too funny and I'd love to see his reaction if he knew XD Thank you so much for punishing that sadistic bitch!! I couldn't believe that she got off scot -free in the books and even worse, was kept on at the Ministry. It was a huge disappointment. This was an excellent one-shot, thank you.

Author's Response: I wrote this for a friend who loves Opera. It's also in honor of Alan Rickman's voice. I thought to combine both in this one-shot. I toyed with a second chapter once, but it just didn't play out nearly as well as this. thanks for enjoying it, and I'm very glad you liked what I did with that awful pink putrescence. Among the many crimes in the final solution to the series, her continuing employment in the Ministry stands head and shoulders above most. Thank you again for your kind thoughts and comments on my work.

Wonderful story. I love the characterizations of both Hermione and Snape as they have reached this point. I can't believe I never saw this before. Random Fic search is a wonderful thing. Thanks for a great read.

Author's Response: Pearle! ::hugs:: Thank you so much for reading this little one-shot. I once considered expanding it, but I've already got two WIPs and can't afford another!

Last reread this a year and a third ago--and it's always just as good. As a classical singer, I too wish there were more to this. (Snape as a sexy Scarpia in TOSCA was already suggested.) I understand it was a one-shot, but even so you give us more in the timber of your plot underpinning than many writers do in the main body of their stories. (I liked "Many expected him to be a titular figurehead, but Harry Potter had been more than irritated by the high-handedness demonstrated by the Ministry since he had been a boy. His tenure in office had begun with a fresh broom. The resulting clean sweep had been thorough, starting with the dismissal and incarceration of Dolores Umbridge...". Just in those couple lines you give Umbridge her just desserts--when JKR herself left that "B" as a loose end after she had made Harry's and most students' lives miserable throughout OotP!) Your writing is terrific, and I hope you give us more. Thank you so much.

Author's Response: You're a classical singer? Wow! I have so much respect for the talent and dedication it takes. One of my dearest friends (and an author on this site) is also a classical singer. I'm a little awed by that talent. With that being said, I'm afraid there won't be any more to this piece. I'm learning -- at long last -- to recognize when a story is simply the one-shot it was intended to be. Still, that you've read my little foray into staged musical theatre/opera and enjoyed it enough to leave me a review is incredibly satisfying. Thank you!

Still lots of fun on the re-read.

Author's Response: Thank you very much.

this is great!!! It's the first time I've read him chosing this occupation, and I find it suits him remarkably well. His work as a spy and that ever-present mask he wears give him the tools to be a successful actor. good show.

Author's Response: I wrote this specifically for a friend who works in operatic productions, but as I wrote it I kept thinking, this is a really good fit for him. Thanks for enjoying it.

Hermione as an adult is always sweet, since that generally means the insecurites of her adolescence are gone. I love the fact her capabilites made "Seb" have to listen to her. It's nice to see him as a singer, since he always did play his voice like an instrument. Enjoyable little one-shot that I wish were more. Ah, well--thanks for having written this much!

Author's Response: I wrote this operatic one-shot for a friend who works in opera and never planned for more -- even if it does feel as if it's a teaser for a longer piece. I do appreciate your comments, and thank you for enjoying what there is of it.

I think this is a very promising beginning to a story. (hint, Hint, HINT!) LOL

Author's Response: You were very kind to hint that you wanted to read more of this story concept, and I'm sorry to disappoint you. I'm afraid this is a one-shot. Thank you for taking the time to hint, however. I truly appreciate that you wanted more.

Good story, but it felt to me incomplete. I thought you could have gone further with this idea. But if this works for you, oh well. Thank you for the story and I hope to read more of your work in the future.

Author's Response: Thank you for reading my Snape as an opera singer piece. It was specifically written for a friend who works in opera, and at one point I considered continuing it, but gave it up when I realize I had no real point to make with the piece. Still, thank you for your honesty. I appreciate that more than I can express.
