The emotions you capture really pulls the reader in. Well done.

I enjoyed your writing very much. The style is beautiful; quite like prose. Rather than blandly tell the story, you have painted a picture with your words, a landscape for the reader to pleasure in. Deeply contemplative and bittersweet. My compliments, it is preeminent.

Author's Response: Thank you for such a lovely review - I'm very touched. This is one of my fics that I really enjoy to read myself, but I'm glad others do. -C

I usually don't read one shots because it leaves so much up in the air and I end up yelling at my computer, "AND"!!! But this was very well written I can see the scene before my eyes, very sad... Thank you so very much for writing it. Cheers, Sonia

Author's Response: Thank you :) One-shots can do that quite often, I really like to try writing a scene that doesn't need continuance, though it is difficult. Thank you for your review -C

On the A/N: Are you a parent? Even though I had no attachment to Cedric, the scene in GoF when his father sees his body sends me in to tears. Anyhow, back to the story, which is what I should review, nicely done!

Author's Response: Oh, no, I'm certainly not a parent...it just gets to me. The death in that book/film is very profound, I feel- kind of a waking up, 'you're not children anymore, and you won't get that back' which is tragic. Thanks! -Catherine

I usually don't like oneshots...but as jules impels me to read all her stuff (sorry jules *gg*it's nice stuff) and your other stories are sooooo great, that I am here now writing a review... Very, very sad story. That's something I usually don't like either, at least concerning the ending.... Mmmh, so how come, that I like this?? *muse* I think, I just love how you can create so much emotion in so few sentences! So happy that you started writing again! Eager for Walking With Shadows update!!!

Author's Response: I'm glad she directed you here : ) Also glad you enjoyed it. Look forard to seeing more updates soon on Shadows, and hope that any hiccups in the plot will soon be flattened out by a beta. Thanks for the review!

This very nearly brought tears to my eyes... Perhaps because I, additional to reading, listen to one of the saddest and melancholic songs I know, "Into the West" by Annie Lennox from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. And perhaps because a once beloved friend is lost to me since yesterday after realising it would not, could not work out.

I wonder if Hermione would crack at some point? Surely she wouldn't tell anything, that's just not possible, judging by your portrayal. But would she break? Would she lose her grip on emotions, reality, whatever? I can imagine her retreating into her own self - and maybe she would become just like Severus - lonely, bitter? Though, when I think about this... it would not fit her character, not entirely at least. She would keep up the facade, and then... I don't know. Hell, it's hard to interprete things when your mood is too melancholic to think straight! Anyways, very well done! And there is nothing wrong with you, believe me, some things bring forth that reaction, not only in you. ~Jules

Author's Response: Oh, that is a sad song. I'm sorry to hear about your troubles- I hope it hurts a little less now? *offers a hug* I see Hermione silenced at first out of fear of what he could have done to her, but a time went on, it was a bit more of a desperate silence- she agreed to keep him secret because she'd rather not live the grim reality without him there. For this fic, I would like to think Hermione never spoke a word of the affair until she was very old, but otherwise, learned to live a happy life with a fond memory in her mind of a man who loved her, even if he would never admit it. : ) Thank you for the review. -Catherine

Aww, sniff, that was so sad. :( I need a tissue. Thanks for writing it though.

Author's Response: Is it somewhat horrible to say I'm glad it had that effect? Hehe, thank you for your review! -Catherine

Very tragic, Catherine, but entirely plausible, and heartbreaking. I always enjoy your work.

Author's Response: Thank you very much. That means a lot to me, considering I'm often not very consistent. -Catherine
