| This chapter felt like canon to me, of course w/ some exceptions. I think it's fair to say that in canon we will never see Snape w/ Hermione (heck, we'll be lucky if Snape lives through book 7). That being said...Moody seeking revenge on Snape seems completely in canon to me and while I don't think Snape would have betrayed Dumbledore, I do think that if Voldemort had won Snape would have used it to his advantage.
Please tell me that someone went back for Moody and I hope Hermione does not question Snape's loyalties.
I had 2 favorite parts in this chapter, the moment where Snape almost breaks down, but doesn't...a crying Snape just doesn't fly w/ me, but the fact that he came so close to the edge, absolutely felt real. I love the part where Snape is remembering Hermione arguing w/ him about his faults.. it's very sweet and romantic. This was probably one of my favorite chapters. One last thought (and I think I've said this before), I think it's quite clear that Harry and Snape will never be best friends (and I shudder to even imagine that), but I like that they get along 'just enough' in your story. Nice job and I'm looking forward to your next update. Author's Response: That flashback scene was one of my favorites. | Aw, poor Severus!! Great chapter by the way! It wasn't anti-climatic at all. But Mad-eye Moody was a surprise, and I was afraid it was going to be OOC, at least his reasoning for hurting Hermione. But it was very realistic. Great plot line! Can't wait to see what happens next;) Author's Response: I'm so glad you think so. I agonize over characterizations. Surprising enough, I like Moody in the book but he always comes off the worse for wear in my stories. Oh well. Thanks for reading! | |||

| A mad Mad-Eye Moody? Entirely plausible considering his paranoia and his vitriolic insistence that Snape is evil. I particularly liked the fact that despite the strides they've made in their relationship, he's still a bit insecure. It adds such a nice touch of realism. A terrific chapter, as always.
