Interesting. I've never written a Shakespearean sonnet, only Italian, but to me any sonnet style is the most compelling form of poetry. It says what it has to say within a definite structure, and I think the discipline forces the author to be more creative in vocabulary than he/she otherwise would be. Good job!
Author's Response: Thank you! I'm also very fond of sonnets. I went to university in France, so I'm actually not very familiar with them, but it was definitely a fun and very creative challenge. |

I enjoyed your sonnets very much. I hope this next comment is not misunderstood - but sonnets are really not as difficult as most people believe. Poetry is simply a flow of words, and sonnets are really just the Japanese art of arrangement of said words. To create beautiful sonnets is to be patient, because anyone can rhyme, but to rhyme and portray emotion with such fluidity that it takes a reader's breath away - that requires a deeper sense of being, something which you have accomplished. Well done, Red. I appreciate the work that went into these. Elizabeth
Author's Response: Thank you! That really means a lot. :-) |

Oh, MY...!!! Being a fan of the Shakespearean sonnets, all I can say is that if someone passed to me what you've written without divulging that the author is *not* in fact Shakespeare, I've my doubts that I'd be able to tell the difference (I'd almost certainly assume they weren't written recently). These are nothing short of breathtaking. BRAVA!
Author's Response: Wow! I'm completely blown away by that. *blushes* Thank you! |

Terrible and glorious. Sweet angst -- from someone who would desperately love to write poetry well (I suck, believe me), most excellent!
Author's Response: A big, big thank you! |
