| How very Rumpelstiltskin: an apprenticeship and career for one's first-born child. Hermione whould have made a counterproposal; ie: a proposal. Author's Response: You know, that's actually a rather apt analogy. However, that's sort of the whole point of the challenge. She has nothing else to offer him. He wants a child. He'll not consider any "counter offers" she makes. He's just stubborn like that. ;) Signing the contract was also done in a sort of "fit of rage" for Hermione. She was being a little petulant and acted without thinking about the consequences. I hope that did come through the way I wanted. Anyway, I hope you keep following the story.
